Febi King Pin Set - Porsche 356, VW Beetle & Karmann Ghia

Part Number: 22-3015-0 | Manufacturer: Febi Bilstein (Germany) | OE Reference: 111-498-021GR | UPC: 707924548556 | Sold: Per Set

When the front end of a Porsche 356, early Beetle, or Karmann Ghia gets sloppy, it almost always traces back to worn king pins and bushings. The Febi King Pin Set is the German-made answer — the same brand that supplies the OE replacement market in Europe, with the precision, hardness, and material spec these classic front ends were designed around. If you're rebuilding a link-pin front beam, this is the kit that goes back together right.

Vehicle Fitment

  • 1949-1965 VW Beetle (link pin / king pin front beam)
  • 1956-1965 Karmann Ghia (link pin / king pin front beam)
  • 1950-1963 Porsche 356 (Pre-A, A, B, and C — verify against your vehicle's specific build year)

Why Febi?

Febi Bilstein has been an OE-grade German parts supplier for over 175 years. Their king pin sets are manufactured to the same tolerances the original German factory parts were built to — material hardness, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy that cheap aftermarket sets simply cannot match. For a Porsche 356 or a museum-quality Beetle restoration, this is the level of part you want going into the front end.

Specifications

  • Weight: 0.529 lbs
  • Dimensions: 4" × 4" × 2"
  • Material: Hardened steel pins, bronze bushings (German manufacture)
  • Sold as: Complete set for one side — order two sets for a full vehicle rebuild

Installation Notes

  • This is a service-level repair. King pin replacement requires pressing the old pins out, reaming the new bushings to spec after installation, and properly setting the cotter-keyed retaining hardware. If you've never done one, this is not the job to learn on — bring it to a shop or use a proper press and reamer.
  • Always replace king pins in pairs (left and right) — even if only one side feels loose. Mismatched wear creates handling and tire-wear issues.
  • Inspect the spindle bores and beam tubes for wear before installing new pins. If the beam itself is worn out of round, new pins won't fix the problem.
  • Properly grease all components on assembly with quality chassis grease. Front beam zerk fittings should be greased as part of regular maintenance.
  • Have your front end professionally aligned after any king pin work.

Dogs can open zipper and pull out all the stuffing easily
Not great for a chewer. My 15 week puppy unzipped it and pulled all of the stuffing out. The stuffing is just loose once you unzip it, there isnt a cloth pocket for the battery pack. She also ate the rectangle hand hold part of the zipper. Really sad this didn't work out. I do feel like it helped her settle a little but just wasn't safe for her. Other than that, it appeared as pictured and worked properly. Also worth noting, the heart beat is LOUD when you put batteries in. I don't know if it calms over time but it was kind of intense.

Zipper is a problem
The first set we received the zipper separated. They were quickly replaced. The zipper tab is very large and our puppy is able to pull it down and pull out all the stuffing. Otherwise it worked to help comfort her until she found the zipper.

Squeaky toy doesn’t squeak.
I have a Shih Tzu who loved to kill his stuffies. But they need squeakers. The elephant has a defective squeaky. But before I could put it away to return he jumped up and took off with it. Maybe it’ll last longer.
