The designer's perennial favourite, these gorgeous Tonga Baskets are multifunctional handwoven beauties that can be used for wall art, display or for table setting and decor. Great for texture and colour to bring blank shelves, empty walls and bare tables back to life!

The basket you select is exactly the one you will receive, allowing you to personalize your home with your preferred design.

Crafted by the skilled Chulu family of the Luangwa Artisan Collective in Zambia, these baskets feature a distinctive square-bottom design that serves as their structural base.

 Woven from ilala palm, each basket measures approximately 35 cm in diameter and requires about three days to complete. The naturally cream-colored fibrous leaves are carefully dried, then stripped and sliced to produce either fine or thick fibers, tailored to the specific style of each piece. This sustainable material is abundant, non-invasive, and integral to the basket’s durability and aesthetic.

One small issue I encountered is that the pieces screw together but they wouldn't screw all the way it felt difficult and possibly if forced the steel might crack. Mounting was simple with planning, measurements, and a level. *Note* I purchase the pine stair treads from Home Depot that are 1" thick and then chemically aged them before adding polycrylic. It is cheaper than plywood and shelving boards, and a full 1" thick rather than 1x12 shelving.
