The translucent color on its back means that meals often show through, so it easily ends up with 'you are what you eat' discoloration. You're seeing the affectionately-named "poot-shoot," just like the digestive tract vein down the back of shrimp. It can be fun to experiment with giving Glacier treats like shrimp, beet, and carrot and watching them tint with color.
