The Lever and Fulcrum with Weights and Hangers 1m allows a simple demonstration of balance, as a meter rule is mounted on a vertical pillar and rests on a base on the table. This highlights the principle that equal weight and distance on both sides of a pivot point results in a balanced system.
Even though this kit does not come with weights, there are usually a range of appropriate alternatives available at schools. The lever and fulcrum set has a 1m wooden ruler with a knife-edge in the middle, and the fulcrum has a vee bearing designed for the knife-edge to fit into.
Kit Includes:
- 1 x Base (with the end moldings removed) with ‘Fulcrum’ (vertical upright with ‘vee’ groove)
- 1 x Lever. Balanced meter rule with knife edge fitted
- 2 x 50gm brass weight hangers to be positioned along the rule
