"One GI had hold of my right arm, and another had his rifle pointedat me, nearly touching me. "'Don't move. We're taking you prisoner, ' the one with the riflesaid." On January 25, 1945, Private Ooka Shohei of the Japanese ImperialArmy was captured by American forces in the Philippines. Near deathfrom starvation and acute malaria, he was nursed back to health byhis captors and shipped off to a POW camp. Taken Captive is hispowerful and poignant account of life as a prisoner of war. Longregarded as a literary classic in Japan, this extraordinary memoiris appearing in English for the first time. There are no epic battles or grand scale heroics. This is anintimate, gripping, and ultimately enlightening true story of asophisticated, middle-aged scholar thrown into a primitive strugglefor survival. It is filled with moments of sublimeordinariness--prisoners passing time by playing "20 Questions"--andheartstopping encounters--a lone soldier decides whether or not toshoot an unsuspecting enemy soldier. The harsh conditions, the daily routines that occupy a prisoner'stime, and above all, the psychological struggles and behavioralquirks of captives forced to live in close confinement are conveyedwith devastating simplicity and candor. Throughout, the authorconstantly probes his own conscience, questioning motivations anddecisions. What emerges is a multileveled portrait of an individualdetermined to retain his humanity in an uncivilizedenvironment. In Taken Captive, Ooka Shohei provides much more than anunprecedented look at the POW experience from a Japanese point ofview. His stirring account offers a penetrating exploration ofJapanese society, and its values, as embodied by the microcosm ofhis fellow POWs. Recalling his wartime experiences, Ooka Shohei hascreated a brilliant work of rare honesty, insight, and emotionalsubtlety.Binding Type: Hardcover

Disappointment
Style: Lobster
Fun for a week now the charge dies after 5 minutes. My dog isn't rough with it at all but stopped working well after a week. Takes hours to charge and dies in minutes.

Fun and Engaging—Just Needs a Bit More Durability
Style: Lobster
I bought the Mity Rain interactive toy for my energetic pups, and it’s been a hit! The movement and squeaky sounds instantly grabbed their attention, and they been chasing it around the house like it’s their new best friend. It’s a great way to keep them mentally stimulated, especially when I’m busy or out of the house.
What I Love:
- The automatic movements really keep my dogs engaged.
- Rechargeable—no need to constantly buy batteries.
- Lightweight and easy for small to medium dogs to play with.
- Helps reduce boredom and separation anxiety.
Why Not 5 Stars:
- Needs a gentle tap to reactivate after short breaks, which isn’t ideal if your dog isn’t the pawing type.
- Not built for aggressive chewers/play-- i did buy two (lobster and the shark) the lobster apparently was more durable and lasted for a month but the shark was done within a day!
Overall, it’s a clever and entertaining toy that’s perfect for indoor play. Just keep an eye on it if your dog tends to chew hard. For the price, it’s a great way to add some excitement to your pup’s day.

A great top & very sturdy!
Style: Fish
Beau was a little shy with the fish at first but now he loves it! I have had a “million laughs”. This is my second fish - present for my “grand dog” at X-mas. They are very study and holds up very well. Really a nice toy!

So cute, my dog loves it
Style: Lobster
My dog (15 lb Morkie) loves this toy. It was his gift for Christmas. My little guy is like a child, he gets so excited when he gets new toys.
I can’t speak much on durability because my dog isn’t known to destroy toys. But in our case, it’s still in great condition.
I love the charging feature. We had a previous toy that required batteries and it was a pain. I keep the charging cord tucked inside the toy pocket so it doesn’t get lost.
It’s also motion activated, so if someone walks by it, it will began wiggling. Although I’m starting to wonder if my house is haunted because the toy will turn on by itself.

Amazingly Tough!
Style: Whale
This is one of our pup’s favorite toys, so much so that we always have a couple around. So far, our very-active, very destructive, deaf mixed-breed puppy has only managed to destroy one. And it was the plushie that failed, not the mechanism. Only reason I subtracted a star is that I’ve gotten a couple where the sensitivity is set WAY too high, as in, maybe it’s cosmic rays, setting it off? But other than that, great toy for a dog with high prey-drive.
