Michael was the father of the authorÕs friend, Joe Brenner with whom he had embarked upon a project meant to return his father to his rightful position in the history of American and Paris-school art. Michael Brenner was part of Gertrude SteinÕs circle, was a participant in New York Dada, co-published the avant-garde magazine: The Soil, where SteinÕs early work was published. He also co-owned the Washington Square Gallery where works by Picasso, Rousseau, Gris and other Parisian artists were offered for sale.
This book is an homage to the strength of one artistÕs wife and his presence seen through her eyes.
