The cuisine, although considered "peasant food", is timeless. Through thoughtful methods of combining simple, regional ingredients with common herbs and spices Bridgette shows us that what may be considered a humble dish is truly dinner guest worthy. Throughout the book Bridgette shares 'snapshots' of her childhood alongside her family recipes giving us another glimpse of the heritage and culture she is preserving.
