The component quality is top-notch! The River sits among fantastic company. Days of Wonder are well-known for producing family-friendly strategy games. Other titles such as Ticket To Ride, Small World and Five Tribes sit among their entourage. Each player has their own board with a settlement of land. This is their own territory along the winding river. The aim is to settle the vacant spaces along your stretches of waterfront. Your player board starts off sparse, with limited storage. But with smart resource management and set collection skills, you'll start to fill it in no time. How? By visiting worker placement spots to collect resources like wood, stone and bricks. Other locations on the board let you spend your hard-earned resources to improve your riverfront. As the game progresses, you build up quite the engine to pulling off bigger and better moves. Will you aim for larger storage? Will you save up for the valuable building cards? Or will you race to build the cheaper, easier-to-obtain structures? There's also end-game bonuses for tile arrangement, so keep a close eye on your opponents!The River is a fast-paced, streamlined (ho-ho!) tile-placement game.
