The buzz around CHRISTIAN LEE HUTSON started in earnest in 2018 after he began his collaborative friendship with singer Phoebe Bridgers. Hutson co-wrote songs with Bridgers for both the EP of supergroup boygenius (ft. Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus) and her 2019 release with Conor Oberst, Better Oblivion Community Center. The emerging folk artist received further critical attention after Bridgers invited him to Eaux Claires Festival last July, where he performed a solo set and earned praise from festival host Bon Iver. Eventually, Bridgers asked if she could produce an album for him. Engineered and mixed by Joseph Lorge (Blake Mills, Perfume Genius), the forthcoming release also features contributions from Bright Eyes pianist Nathaniel Walcott. To merely call Christian Lee Hutson an old soul would be to deny the vibrancy of his sound. Hutson writes songs that the SF Bay Guardian describes as, "... Foreboding, bluesy love ballads laden with longing nostalgia." Hutson is an avid touring artist and his touring will take him to Austin this Spring for SXSW. For Fans of Phoebe Bridgers, Elliott Smith and Bright Eyes.

Good in theory, but didn’t fully deliver

My dog falls right on the size cutoff between the small and large Pupsicle. I initially ordered the large since he’s a strong chewer, but he had trouble getting everything out, so I ended up trying the small as well. There are definitely some positives. I think the design is better than a Kong. It stays upright, which makes it less messy. I also really like the mold for making the inserts, instead of having to fill the toy itself and freeze it. That said, there are two major design issues that impacted my experience. First, the all-rubber construction creates a lot of friction when screwing the bottom into the base, especially after repeated use. It gradually became harder to open, to the point where I was using coconut or avocado oil to try to loosen the threads. At one point I even needed a wrench and pliers just to get a better grip. Second, while it’s marketed as dishwasher safe (which I was excited about for cleaning), it seems to dry out the rubber and makes the threading issue worse over time. Unfortunately, mine is now permanently stuck shut and no longer usable. Overall, I like the concept, but the durability and usability issues make this a 3-star product for me. I’d recommend it with caution, especially if you plan to wash it frequently.

Best dog toy I have ever bought. I have three dogs, two at the time I bought this toy. It took them over a year to break through the first layer. The flower comes off first so be careful your dog doesn't swallow it. It still has the second layer so it still looks like a cactus. No stuffing to clean up when they tear into it, which makes it far less messy than other toys. One of my dogs is obsessed with fetch so I use it like a ball inside. The oval shape makes it hard to ensure when it bounces that it will bounce straight. It's bounced into walls and other stuff that I wasn't intending it to hit. Not much of a squeak so I can let them play with it for hours and I don't get annoyed with the noise. Great toy that lasts a while.
